Hello
What is it?
Matz is a statically linked, 3MB terminal binary focused on mruby.
What does he do?
He answers questions from the mruby guide repository, indexed mruby source code, and mrbgem metadata.
He is built on mruby-llm, the mruby port of the llm.rb runtime.
How do I use it?
Matz can be accessed over SSH, and it is a free to use community resource.
I use it regularly while I work on mruby projects, and have a question I'm not sure of.
Is it free?
Yes. It is a free service for mruby developers.
What makes it different to ChatGPT?
Matz does not rely on his training data.
He consults the mruby source tree, guide index, mrbgem index and data, in
real time. He is specially designed for mruby development, and works in
your terminal via SSH. His answers also always include citations.
Local install
Matz can also be compiled locally but you have to bring your own deepseek token:
https://github.com/4-4BSD/matz
Location
Matz is located in New York, USA (or there abouts).
Latency can play a role in how usable it is. I had good results up to 200ms.
What about the name?
Matz is named in honor of the creator of (m)ruby: Yukihiro "Matz" Matsumoto.
It is an independent open source project.
It is not affiliated with or endorsed by him.
If choosing that name for an AI is disrespectful, I can change it.
Thanks.
