How can I get the immediate parent branch of any feature branch using git command. I am trying to rebase all feature branch in my repo to automatically merge with it parent using GHA.

I experimented with develop as default branch and created two feature branch (feature-1 , feature-2) and created one more sub branch form feature-1 as feature-child-1.

No I am looking for a way to find the parents of each branch.

• develop->HEAD or empty
• feature1-> develop
• feature-2->develop
• feature-child-1->feature-1

can somebody please help me is there a way to do find this?

Thanks for the reply and the information provided, However, I think this is wont work, all I am getting is the same branch name output please find the screenshot for the same.
