What is Copilot Edits?

Copilot Edits, a preview feature, is a brand-new way of using Copilot in Visual Studio. It combines the best of Chat and Inline Chat to help make iteration across multiple files more efficient:

• Preview with clarity: GitHub Copilot Edits starts with a summary of the files affected and the proposed changes, so you know exactly what's happening.
• Review with flow: View code diffs inline, directly in your editor. Accept or reject individual changes using the TAB or Alt+Del keys, or apply/dismiss all at once.
• Iterate with confidence: Checkpoints let you revisit earlier iterations of a code file or try a different approach whenever you need to—perfect for when inspiration strikes again.

🙋‍♀️ How do I get Edits?

• Install the latest build of Visual Studio 17.13 Preview
• Sign-in to a GitHub account with an active Copilot subscription.
• Open the GitHub Copilot Chat Window and click the "+" button in the top right with a ✏️

If you are a VS Code user, Copilot Edits (Preview) is also available.

I like working with copilot edits. I'm using it since it has been introduced into VSCode.
My experience so far:

max 10 files is kind of restrictive, but mostly ok. Maybe limiting to LOC or similar metric would be better
It happens often that I edit the AI code, because copilot can be stubborn or easier to fix, but in this case copilot likes to revert my changes.
Fixing above: It would be good to have a way to start a new chat (like Done), but keeping the context (list of files).
It seems to me that the performance of the edits degraded in the past month. Sometimes it take up to a minute to get the response.
