Hi,
I’ve been using SharpKeys to remap certain keys on my keyboard—for example, remapping the "U" key to type "8". I understand that after saving the changes, a system restart is required for the new mappings to take effect.
This brought a potential issue to mind: suppose a user remaps a key that is part of their Windows login password—say, remapping the letter "O" to "+". After rebooting, that key would now type "+" instead of "O", meaning the original password becomes impossible to type using the same key.
This could effectively lock a user out of their system after rebooting, especially if they don’t have another account or a backup method to log in. While this hasn’t happened to me personally, I think it could be a real concern for others, especially those less tech-savvy.
Is there any safeguard currently in place or planned to prevent users from remapping keys critical to system login? If not, perhaps a warning prompt or a whitelist for essential keys (like those used in the current password) could help prevent accidental lockouts.
Looking forward to your thoughts on this.
