Hello,
My account was recently restricted, likely due to an automated assumption that I am located in Iran. I want to clarify that while I am an Iranian national and maintain personal ties to Iran (my family resides there and I travel there periodically), I am not currently located in Iran.
This restriction appears to have been triggered by IP geolocation or residual session data from prior visits. While I may have accessed GitHub services (such as Copilot and VS Code extensions) during travel using my personal laptop, my primary and current location is outside any sanctioned region, and I am fully compliant with GitHub’s Terms of Service and U.S. export regulations.
To support this, I’ve included two pieces of proof:
GitHub session screenshot – attached, showing my current session active in Nuremberg, Germany (IP:
91.107.245.205).IP trace via
curl ipwho.is:{ "ip": "91.107.245.205", "country": "Germany", "region": "Bavaria", "city": "Nuremberg", "isp": "Hetzner Online GmbH", "timezone": "Europe/Berlin", "current_time": "2025-05-17T12:49:12+02:00" }I’ve already submitted a support request to GitHub and respectfully asked for a review of this restriction. I’m posting here in case others have experienced similar issues or can suggest further steps.
Thank you for your time and consideration.
Best regards,
saeedkhademidoroh
