How can I turn off link previews for Git links in Slack? #161990

Hey! It sounds like the GitHub link previews in Slack are controlled by the GitHub app integration itself, not by Slack’s general link preview settings. So even if you disable previews in Slack’s settings, GitHub links might still show expanded previews because the GitHub Slack app is generating them. To turn off those previews, you’ll want to:
Basically, the GitHub integration manages its own preview behavior separately from Slack’s native link preview controls. Hopefully that helps you get those previews turned off! |

At some point the GitHub Slack bot asked me if I'd like for any GitHub links to have previews added to Slack messages, and I said yes. I now regret that choice - the previews are often too long/noisy.
How do I turn the previews off for GitHub? I've made a change in my general Slack settings to not show text previews of linked websites, but this doesn't seem to apply to GitHub links, hence I suspect it's the GitHub integration rather than Slack itself.
