Hi, I've been receiving this message for quite a long time now (I think almost a month).
How do I resolve this problem?
FYI: I'm in GitHub Student Developer Program

Hi,

This error means you have reached the monthly limit for "premium requests" on GitHub Copilot. For users in the GitHub Student Developer Pack, Copilot Pro currently has a maximum of 300 premium requests per month, even though it is free for students. Once this limit is reached, Copilot automatically switches you to the standard GPT-4.1 model, and premium models/features (like GPT-4 Turbo, Claude, etc.) become unavailable unless additional paid premium requests are enabled.

Here’s what you should do:

1. Visit your GitHub Copilot billing or usage page to confirm if your quota has actually been exhausted or if there is a system error.
2. Limits are supposed to reset each month, so wait until the next month to see if your quota refreshes.
3. If your monthly reset date has passed and you still see the message, try updating VS Code, reinstalling Copilot, and waiting a day for the system to sync.
4. If none of these steps help, contact GitHub Support with a screenshot of your usage page and the error message.

As a student, I think you can use GPT-4.1 for your projects. This warning message will automatically reset once your next monthly cycle begins. You can also opt in for a subscription if you are using other premium models, but considering you're a student, I wouldn't recommend it 😊.
