Choose the default filter for the notifications screen

A few weeks ago, the behavior of /notifications changed. It used to load by showing all of your "not done" notifications. This view displayed after clicking the bell icon, and was very helpful to me. Recently, the behavior changed so that /notifications permanently redirects to /notifications?query=is%3Aunread. This greatly changes how I use the notification bell icon, as the default view will not show me my "not done" notifications. Since I use "not done" to track what I still need to be aware of and take action on, the new behavior is not helpful to me.

I wish there was a setting to restore the previous behavior. Effectively, since /notifications now permanently redirects to a filter, and since the "bell" icon loads /notifications, I'd like to be able to choose the default filter for the screen instead of it being chosen for me. (including to have no filter, restoring the previous behavior.)
