This is annoying for Pull Requests, when quickly editing a file to fix formatting, and it stealthily adds newlines, so you have to go and fix that in another commit.

Could be related to CRLF vs LF line endings, as it does not appear to happen for all files, but does happen consistently for specific files, and will happen multiple times for each time the file is edited and committed.

It also happens in the "new experience".
