Verified student email why do you need more 🤷🏻‍♂️

Hi everyone,

I’ve already verified my student email and I’ve done the verification website that’s on my profile. What else do I need to do if they just had an option to upload a PDF I think that would be considerably better than having to show on camera

Verifying your student email only confirms that you own an academic domain address. It does not verify your actual student identity or enrollment status.

That’s why GitHub may still ask for camera-based verification or additional proof. The video check is used to prevent fake or shared academic emails being abused to get free benefits.

At the moment, GitHub does not support PDF uploads as a replacement for live verification. This is intentional, to reduce document fraud and reused ID proofs.

If your verification attempt failed, the best option is to retry the camera verification with good lighting and a clear ID, or contact GitHub Education support directly for manual review.

The online student information is all I have I’ve been verified through everything that I know how to I don’t have any additional information, other than pdf files that verify me and I haven’t had a problem other than here.

It would be preferable that a student is on campus when applying and thus able to upload a document but with remote learning that isn't always possible, so we request students submit a live photo of their evidence rather than an upload. We understand that students may not have access to high-quality cameras (laptop or phones) but as long as the text is legible the system should be able to process it. Here are a few tips on using a photo to capture.

1. Ensure your image (photo or upload) is legible. If you are unable to read its text on the image itself then the verification process may not be able to either. If you are taking a photo of a screen try to have it as large a resolution as possible - take a photo of the evidence on a monitor (a laptop perhaps - or a TV) rather than a phone.
2. If you can, print off your evidence and take a photo of this copy.
3. Keep the text legible. It's preferred to have the full shot of the evidence but try and capture the important sections of it to confirm your student status. If the photo is too large and makes the text tiny then zoom in appropriately - ensure that the area includes your school's name, your name and dates (if applicable) at least.

I gave up i can not get any more verification than I have given already if you were able to accept a pdf of my transcript I could but for some reason pdf isn't an acceptable format 💁🏻
