I'd love to have a GitHub MCP integration specific to Actions to:

• Validate statements across files
• Validate workflow setup vs. best practices (structure, dependency management, using SHA's instead of releasetag-names etc.)
• With support for both stdin/stdout and HTTP as a transport

That is a really interesting idea. The Model Context Protocol (MCP) is gaining a lot of traction, and having a dedicated server for GitHub Actions would be very powerful for local development and AI-assisted workflows.

Currently, there isn't an official first-party MCP server from GitHub specifically for Actions validation like you described, but here is how you might approach this or what to look for:

1. Existing Tooling wrappers: Since MCP essentially wraps existing tools, the fastest path to building this would be wrapping action-validator or the official actionlint. You could create a lightweight MCP server that takes the file content, runs actionlint against it, and returns the diagnostics to your AI model or editor.
2. Schema Validation: Most of what you are asking for (structure validation) is handled by the JSON schema for GitHub Actions. An MCP server that exposes that schema to an LLM would help it generate better YAML, but a dedicated linter is better for "best practices" like enforcing SHAs over tags.
3. Community Projects: Since MCP is open, the community is building servers rapidly. You might want to check the model-context-protocol repositories or discussion boards to see if someone has already started a generic "Linter MCP" that can be configured for Actions.

If you decide to build a prototype using the Python or Node.js SDK for MCP, wrapping actionlint would likely be your best starting point for the validation logic!
