If your payment is marked as “Declined” in your billing settings, it means GitHub did not successfully charge your payment method — even if an invoice was generated. Since this is a personal account and not an organization, here’s what you should check:
Go to: Settings → Billing & plans → Payment information Make sure: Your card details are correct The card is not expired International/online transactions are enabled Your bank did not block the charge
Sometimes banks automatically block international or recurring charges. Confirm that: The $39.00 charge from GitHub was not blocked There are no spending limits preventing the transaction
After updating your payment method, try: Clicking “Retry payment” in your billing page Removing and re-adding the payment method
Contact GitHub Support directly through: https://support.github.com/contact/billing Only GitHub Support can confirm the exact payment failure reason and manually restore access if needed. Copilot access will automatically reactivate once the payment is successfully processed. |

I’m facing a billing issue with my GitHub Copilot subscription on my personal account (username: vaish-techahir).
I attempted to pay $39.00 for Copilot Pro+, and an invoice was generated showing the billing period from Jan 26, 2026 to Feb 25, 2026. However, in my GitHub billing page the payment is marked as “Declined,” and I received an email saying my bill is past due and paid features have been disabled.
I am not part of any organization — this is an individual account.
Could you please confirm the payment status and guide me on how to successfully complete the payment so my Copilot access can be restored?
I can provide screenshots of the invoice and payment history if needed.
