This definitely feels like a backend consistency / sync issue, not user error. What’s happening looks like eventual consistency with a very slow propagation window. The archive action is accepted, but the project view keeps re-hydrating from a stale state, so items reappear until the archive event finally propagates everywhere. That explains why:
From a UX standpoint, that delay is way too long. “Archive” is a state change users expect to be immediate and final, especially in a Kanban workflow. If the backend needs time, the UI should at least:
As it stands, it feels broken because the UI gives no signal that the operation is still in progress. Even if this is expected eventual consistency internally, the current behavior makes it impossible to trust the board in real time. |

Getting the same thing, but not just for issues, for PRs, and drafts as well. Started last week for me, and nothing has been able to have been archived since. I don't have them eventually cleaning up, they just never clean up. Update - they are now showing in the archive section and appeared to update. It seems when I archived them from last week that was ignored, but at one of the times I tried archiving them today it went through? |

This has been happening forever. Can it be fixed? It really ruins what is otherwise a great product. Also on the list view there's a shortcut for Archive "E" but it doesn't do anything. Probably a bug or unclear what it is supposed to be doing? |

Hi, I have been testing out Github Projects recently. They are amazing. However now that a few issues have been marked as complete, I want to archive them. I have clicked the archive button on the issues from multiple places. Directly on them, from the "Archive all" option on the Kanban board and on the table view. They disappear but they re-appear on refresh. They simply do not get archived... Now literally as I'm typing this in real time(after about 10 mins) they have disappeared. So I guess there is some serious latency.. like far beyond the point of being acceptable. Like, they should disappear out of sight / out of mind immediately not keep reappearing for 10 mins.
