This account is flagged, and therefore cannot authorize a third party application #188299

I ran into this exact flag a while back. GitHub ties these restrictions to automated security checks, and the phone requirement is usually hardcoded into their appeal flow. You do not need to abandon the account. Submit the appeal anyway and explicitly state that you do not own a mobile number. Ask if they accept alternative verification like a government ID or a verified secondary email. I am not 100% sure they will accept ID, but I have seen support manually override the phone step when you clearly explain the blocker in the appeal text box. If the automated form rejects you, open a ticket through GitHub Support directly instead of using the appeal page. Reference your username and paste the exact error message. Support agents have manual override permissions that the automated system lacks. Are you trying to authorize an app you built yourself, or a public integration like a CI service? |

I'm at my wit's end. My account keeps preventing me from authorizing third-party logins, even though I haven't done anything wrong. The appeal process requires a phone number, but I don't have one. Should I give up on this account?
