Sponsorship request stuck in "Pending" state

I submitted a request 2 days ago, but it never got approved.

In my dashboard, I see:

I've filled out all the required information, so I don't know what else is missing from my application.

Hi! The "Pending" state for GitHub Sponsors is completely normal —
it just means your application is in the review queue waiting
for a GitHub staff member to manually approve it.

A few things to know:

• Review times can take anywhere from a few days to a few weeks
• The message "Your profile will go live as soon as it's approved
  by a staff member" confirms everything is submitted correctly
• There is nothing missing — the pending state does not mean
  your application is incomplete

What you can do:

• Be patient and wait for GitHub staff to review your profile
• Make sure your profile has a bio, avatar, and some public
  repositories to strengthen your application
• If it's been more than 2-3 weeks, contact GitHub Support
  at support.github.com to follow up

I've seen this happen when the payout details or tax information has a minor issue that doesn't block submission but triggers a manual review.

First, double-check your Payout details section in the sponsor settings. Make sure your bank/PayPal info is complete and matches your legal name exactly. Even a small typo can cause a hold.

Also, search your email (including spam) for any message from GitHub Support about your sponsorship. They usually email if they need clarification.

If everything looks correct and there's no email, the only next step is to contact GitHub Support directly through the GitHub Sponsors help form. They can see the internal status and clear it or tell you what's missing.

I'm not 100% sure what the specific hold is.
