Request to upload PDF/image for enrollment proof — camera-only capture causes blur (also on desktop Chrome/Edge)

Hi everyone,

Hello GitHub Education team,

My Student application was rejected, and I suspect the root cause is the verification flow forcing a live camera capture on my devices, which results in a blurry image. Because of the blur, my full name and the current date are probably not legible.

I’ve already tried both mobile and desktop, and even on desktop Chrome and Edge the verification modal shows only a camera capture UI (no standard file upload picker). I would like to submit a clear PDF or image file (JPG/PNG) instead.

Rejection details:

• Rejected on March 25, 2026

• Application Type: Student

• Message:
  "We were unfortunately not able to verify your academic status. Please address the following issues and apply again.

  Please ensure that your academic affiliation document contains your last name exactly as it appears in your GitHub billing information. If you have only a single legal name, enter it in both the first and last name fields of your GitHub billing information.
  Your document does not appear to include a date demonstrating current academic affiliation. For countries utilizing non-standard calendars, you may need to capture the original document beside one with a converted date. You may include multiple documents in your image, so long as they are legible.
  Please ensure that your academic affiliation document contains your first name exactly as it appears in your GitHub billing information. Variations of your name and nicknames are unacceptable.
  You are unlikely to be verified until you have completed your GitHub user profile with your full name exactly as it appears in your academic affiliation document. Please do not use a variation of your name or a nickname. Once you have updated your profile information log out and log back into GitHub before re-applying."

Request:
Could you please enable a way for me to "upload" a clear PDF or image file of my official proof of enrollment instead of using live camera capture? I can provide any of the following with full name, school name, and a current date/term* clearly visible:

• Enrollment/affiliation letter on school letterhead
• Current class schedule / registration page
• Transcript (unofficial is fine if permitted)
• A screenshot from the student portal that shows my name and the current term/date

If there is a specific manual review path or support form where I can securely upload a PDF/high‑resolution image, please point me to it. I will also re-check that my GitHub billing information and profile full name exactly match the documents before reapplying, as the rejection message suggests.

I’m experiencing the same issue as described above.

I consistently receive a “data mismatch” or verification failure, even though I have ensured that all my information is accurate and consistent across platforms.

Here’s what I have already verified:

• My billing information matches exactly with my personal details.
• My university data (name, email, and enrollment information) is consistent with my official university portal.
• I am using valid and active student credentials.

Despite this, the verification process still fails without clear explanation.

This issue is quite blocking, as I’m trying to access GitHub Student benefits for learning and academic purposes.

Could you please help clarify:

• What specific data points are being validated during this process?
• Are there common causes for this mismatch that I might have missed?
• Is there a way to manually verify or submit additional proof?

I would really appreciate any guidance or support to resolve this issue.
