Hi! GitHub Education verification is primarily handled through an automated system, so you generally can’t submit documents manually via email. Since you're an online student, here are a few things you can check:
Being an online student is fine, as long as your document clearly proves that you are currently enrolled. Also, one more thing that helped in my case: I received an email from GitHub saying they couldn’t verify my academic affiliation. You don’t need to add any payment method. After updating it, you may need to log out and log back in before reapplying. If you keep getting rejected:
If it still doesn’t work, you can contact GitHub Support: Hope this helps 👍 |

Hey! I’ve actually gone through the GitHub Student Developer Pack verification myself, and this exact situation comes up a lot with online students. Answer: you can’t send documents via email directly. GitHub doesn’t verify over email; everything goes through their system. ### What worked in my case (and for others I’ve helped): If your institute gives any kind of official student email, use that, it really helps. If it keeps failing, don’t keep retrying randomly. Just raise a support request under Education Pack and explain that you’re a fully online student with no campus. Attach your documents there, that’s how you get a manual review. |

This usually happens when GitHub is unable to verify your student status with the information provided. Even if you are studying online, GitHub still requires valid proof such as a student ID, enrollment letter, or any official document that clearly shows your name, institution, and current enrollment status. If the automatic verification keeps failing, you can try submitting a clearer or more recent document through the verification page again. In some cases, GitHub may request additional details if the institution is not easily verifiable or if there is no physical campus listed. Unfortunately, GitHub does not typically allow verification via direct email submission, as the process is handled through their official Education verification system. However, you can contact GitHub Education Support and explain your situation (especially that your classes are fully online and there is no local campus). They may guide you on acceptable documents or manually review your case. |

Hi! Amrit this side, I understand how frustrating that can be. Unfortunately, GitHub doesn’t allow student verification through email. The process is handled entirely through their automated system, so you’ll need to keep using the verification page. Since you’re studying online, try uploading an official proof of enrollment that clearly shows your name, your institution’s name, and a current date (like an admission letter, fee receipt, or student ID if available). Make sure the document is clear and not cropped. If you’re still getting the same message, the best option is to contact GitHub Education Support directly through their support page so they can review your case. Hope this helps! |

If you've been rejected more than 3–5 times, the automated system might "lock" you. Instead of emailing them, you must open a specific Education Support Ticket: |

Verification Help & Guidance
Hi everyone,
Hello! I've been trying to get the education account verified but I keep getting this message about that Github needs more information to verify and I did everything and I keep getting this message...Is there a way I can just send the documents through email so the page can verify my student status? I study online and they don't have campus where I live cause my classes are full online. Thanks anyways
