Hi everyone,

Hi GitHub Education Team,
I'm reporting a billing system error that has left me without Copilot access for 9 days.

My Status:
Verified student with active GitHub Education status
Should be on free GitHub Copilot Student plan

What Happened:
April 1, 2026: Accidentally clicked upgrade button
System charged me $6.45 USD (Transaction ID: 23094578DY455204D)
Current status shows "Downgrade Pending" — but I never should have been upgraded in the first place

The Problem:
As a student with active verification, I should remain on the free Copilot Student plan. This charge appears to be a system error rather than a legitimate upgrade.

Impact:
9 days without Copilot support response (Ticket #4225567)
9 days unable to use Copilot for coursework (feared using it would affect refund)
Attempted to email billing@github.com — rejected (external senders not permitted)

What I Need:
Full refund of $6.45 to PayPal
Immediate restoration of my free Copilot Student plan
Investigation of why active students can be accidentally charged
