What’s new in GitHub Actions? 🆕

• GitHub Actions: Remove offline self-hosted runners: To better utilize self-hosted runners and make it easier for you to manage them, we are making the following changes to the time we retain offline runners for:
  • A non-ephemeral self-hosted Actions runner is automatically removed from GitHub if we have not seen it connect to GitHub for more than 14 days
  • An ephemeral Self-Hosted Actions runner is automatically removed from GitHub if we have not seen it connect to GitHub for more than one day.

• You can now manage Actions cache from your terminal by installing the new GitHub CLI extension for Actions cache. Learn more about dependency caching to speed up your Actions workflows. 🚤
• GitHub Pages: Custom GitHub Actions Workflows (beta) Now it's even easier to deploy to a GitHub Pages site directly from a repository using GitHub Actions. 💯

• Enhanced Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) experience is now generally available. Previously, we announced a set of improvements in our public beta. Further to this we have made some exciting new changes to streamline the CLI login experience. 🔐
• We’ve recently opened a new request for comments (RFC), which discusses linking a package with its source repository and its build environment.​​ Previously we’ve announced a number of changes over the last several months to improve the security of npm, like requiring two-factor authentication, streamlined login, and enhanced signing of artifacts.
• GitHub Advanced Security customers who are watching a repository's secret scanning alerts will now receive an email notification when a contributor bypasses a secret blocked by push protection. Learn more about protecting pushes with secret scanning in this blogpost by @jhutchings1 🔔
