How to migrate from forum tools like (Discourse, Invision Community, Google-groups) to Github Discussion?

Hi, community,

I'm very optimistic about GitHub's Org Discussions feature; it is very easy to adopt this feature if we're about to start & build a community with GitHub Discussions, but if we're already using other forums like tools including Google Groups, Discourse, or Invision Community (Currently using this), how to migrate our previous discussions here on Github Discussion?

Is this even possible or not? If yes, can anyone throw some light on how to migrate legacy threads here at GitHub Discussion?

It is possible, but with a bit of work. I would suggest exporting your content into a CSV or some sort and then using the graphql API provided by discussions to recreate all the content on GitHub Discussions.

You'll first need to export the discussions and related data from your current forum platform. Each platform may have its own export tools or plugins that can generate data in formats like CSV, XML, or JSON.

Also, GitHub provides a REST API that allows you to create discussions programmatically. You can use this API to import your prepared data into GitHub Discussions. Alternatively, you can explore existing import tools or scripts that others might have developed for similar migrations.
