Hi GitHub Community,

I want to share a feature request for the GitHub App that could significantly enhance the experience for organizations, particularly those with a large number of teams and repositories, and are using GitHub Teams.

Current Installation Options

When installing a GitHub App, the user has two choices: All repositories or Only select repositories (which allows searching and selecting individual repositories one-by-one).

Proposed Feature

I propose the introduction of a third installation option: Install by Selected Teams. This would enable organization administrators to install a GitHub App specifically for chosen teams, on all their defined repositories.

Why This Matters

In large organizations, teams often have distinct needs regarding GitHub Apps. The ability to target app installations at the team level would be incredibly beneficial:

• Focused Deployment: Teams get the tools they need without overwhelming other teams.
• Streamlined Management: Easier rollout and management of Apps, particularly in organizations with numerous repositories.
• Organizational Alignment: This aligns App installations with the organizational structure, offering a more efficient approach.
• Enhanced Security: By limiting App access to relevant teams, we can better manage security and compliance.

This feature would be particularly advantageous for organizations structured around specific team-based projects and repositories, offering a more refined and organized method for managing App installations.
