前衛がポーチ作戦のとき、相手後衛がどんな球を打ったかに関わらず、予測した到達点が前衛のリーチ内なら一律に踏み込んでしまう。このため、速いストレートの抜き球にも機械的に飛び出したり、逆に十分カットできる緩いクロスでも踏み込みの積極性が変わらず、ソフトテニスらしい「読みと駆け引き」が薄い。観戦モードで前衛の挙動が不自然に見える主因になっている。
ポーチに出る前衛は、相手の球が自分の守備側へ横切ってくる遅めの球なら思い切って飛び出し、自分の届かない側へ速く抜けていく球なら踏み込みを止めて定位置を保つ、という読みが本来のセオリー。到達点がリーチ内かどうかだけでなく、球のコース（左右どちら側へ向かうか）と横方向の球速を見て、飛び出す／止まるを判断したい。 ...
