首先要留意，黃、紅、黑雨基準為預測一小時降雨量，而天文台提及的是一日或兩日的累積雨量。這是因為電腦模式現時仍未能提前數日做到準確的「幾時、邊度、落幾大雨」預報，而且經常低估短時間降雨的強度。因此，電腦模式的時雨量預報參考價值相當低，無法按此提前判斷會否黃、紅、黑雨。氣象機構只能依賴較長的預報時段，例如24至72小時的累積雨量，以判斷大氣環境是否有利降雨。換句話說，一日或兩日的累積雨量預報，是天文台手上相對可靠的資訊。 ...
