Can we disable message guids in the UI

I notice the new release now prints uuids on each message:

Is there a way to disable ... looking at add_message in chat.lua I am not seeing how this is configured for omission?

They should be drawn over and not visible if you have highlight_headers enabled

I recall I disabled it per instructions though:

highlight_headers = true, -- Highlight headers in chat, disable if using markdown renderers (like render-markdown.nvim)

I am using render-markdown.nvim

It still leaks in in a few places:

It goes away as I navigate around, but in an ideal world I would prefer not to render it at all if possible. is there a technical reason we need it?

Yea the IDs are necessary for matching LLM messages with buffers properly (so I can match buffer messages and the data sent to LLM, this was not needed before but now I need extra metadata there like tool calls and tool call ids so the id reference needs to be stored in text in buffer somewhere). And rendering over them was the only easy way i found to hide them.

But yea for now I recommend just not disabling the header highlight

Tricky problem especially with editable buffers, so a map of line numbers to ids will probably not cut it when users edit stuff?

Perhaps as "skip tool calls" switch ... personally I get away fine without tool calls on my day to day cause i just curate context and then ask the context questions. I very rarely need tool calls.

Yea exactly, cant rely on just line numbers as its editable. I dont really want to disable it (mostly because in future it could also be used for other stuff because its very useful info to have in general) I think I would rather just fix the rendering issue (even though i cant really reproduce it, does it happen with render markdown disabled as well?)

Maybe this was the issue, were you using empty separator as well? someone had similar issue

having a bit of trouble getting rid of render markdown, will try to test without it.

One easy repro though is making the window narrow, if you make it narrow enough then the guid leaks through.
