Ideapad Slim5 after install handling

Hello,
Congratulations on your work.
I have a Lenovo Ideapad OLED Snapdragon, and I've tried all the available ISOs, but only yours allows me to test Resolute.
However, it's impossible to reboot. I've tried countless solutions without success.
I started by following the instructions in your wiki, but I'm having trouble with sudo update-grub.
I've also tried the grub2-mkconfig commands without success.
Has anyone managed to install Resolute on a Lenovo Ideapad Slim 5 Snapdragon? The French Ubuntu forum and Discourse Ubuntu have given up!

Here are some informations that might be helpful for beginners (like me).
When we create bootable USB drives with Rufus (amd64 or arm64) and Unetbootin, the partition list is very different from the one you describe, making the wiki unusable.
With Balena Etcher under (Windows or Linux), we get an installation as you describe.

ubuntu@ubuntu:$ lsblk -f
sda1 /target/cdrom
sda3 /run/media/ubuntu/KERNEL_PKG
nvme0n1p1 /target/boot/efi
nvme0n1/target
I used the wiki.

However, we're stuck.
root@ubuntu:/# cd /run/media/ubuntu/KERNEL_PKG/kernel/ bash: cd: /run/media/ubuntu/KERNEL_PKG/kernel/: No such file or directory

I've modified the mount and chroot settings, but without success, and we have to restart the installation.
What mount modification do you recommend in this case, before chroot?

Hi, I do have a slim5 OLED now, and did the initial install with extended ISO image. There are quite many hurdles that need to be recognized and worked around. Main issues I had:

• Windows partition needs to be fully decrypted before switching off secure boot. Need to explicitly manage-bde -off C: and wait until it really got decrypted.
• The stick, when creating on Windows. should be written by Balena Etcher (yes, really). Rufus seems to write something where the KERNEL_PKG partition is not mountable/mangled. Balena Etcher worked well.
• I also had a "time" actually installing a new kernel, but if you only want to use the one from KERNEL_PKG it should work as described.

For the Slim5x OLED there shouldn't be flash-kernel required. The laptop will be recognized by the kernel and its loading the slim5x oled dtb. If you want to also boot the Canonical-Kernels you will definitely need flash-kernel.

I ended up redoing all the mount settings, since the mount points vary on the USB drive.
I combined elements from all your tutorials and, most importantly, installed your 7.1 kernel.
Everything is working, and I am impressed by the machine's quality and smoothness!
Do you think it will handle updates?
Anyway, congratulations on your work; I exchanged about 150 messages on the Ubuntu Discourse and the French Ubuntu Lenovo forum with no success—

Congratulations on setting it up. As long as you're using a kernel with stubble that knows your laptop, this will survive upgrades, probably. I will take a look at the backlight issue (which works on the Ubuntu 7.0.x kernel, if you have the setup to boot), which is most intriguing. And you would need to install firmwares to get GPU acceleration. And sound.

In broad daylight a full-on OLED display is a blessing. For cave dwellers its more like the sun to vampires. Since I got it reliably working on my ip5 2in1, and it is known to be working except for 7.1+, I am confident we'll find and resolve this. Likewise, the HDMI path (works on the 2in1) and a few other details. I must say the slim5x is a nice device to have.

Yes, of course—it's better to be able to adjust the backlight.
With a previous Asus model back in 2023, it took six months to find the solution.
It doesn't bother me too much, though, since it's a work computer—no gaming or video playback!
Of course, if you do find the solution, I'd certainly be interested.
A tip for your followers: installing the latest kernel version was what finally solved the issue for me!
