Describe the bug
If mintupdate is used to update the system on a fresh installed LMDE 7, during the installation, a GTK graphic window asks which keyboard distribution is used. Almost all of entries are in blank, and a lot of distributions are missing. This is probably IBus. When choosing "cancel" instead of "accept", to continue with update, the window appears another time. If system is restarted, update is halted (obviously).
When, instead, choosing to update a fresh installed LMDE 7 with the terminal using sudo apt update and sudo apt upgrade, instead of a graphical window, we can choose the keyboard distribution in the terminal, and all entries are OK (the bug doesn't exist here), and update continues.
Screenshots
As this only happened to me on freshly installed LMDE7, this only happened to me a few times reinstalling the system, and I didn't made screenshots. When I have more time, I will do it, if someone still haven't solved this.
To Reproduce
Steps to reproduce the behavior:
- Install LMDE 7. I choosed spanish (spain) for language, keyboard, etc...
- Boot to new system
- Open mintupdate, click on refresh updates and install the updates
- Update the system via mintupdate
- After downloading the updates, a GTK window asks our keyboard distribution, with a lot of distributions missing, or in blank. Cancel button does nothing as this window keep popping up.
Expected behavior
mintupdate should allow to have a clean update on a fresh installed LMDE, as doing sudo apt update and sudo apt upgrade on the terminal.
Distribution:
Software version:
mintupdate 7.1.4
Additional context
Personal opinion: this seems to be an issue on how the dialog of choosing a distribution, during the installation of, probably, Ibus, is managed? Like, if the fresh system is updated via terminal-> dialog is shown on terminal->all OK. If is updated via mintupdate-> dialog is shown on a GTK window->For some reason this is not done correctly
Locale:
I don't know iff this helps, but in that case,
LANG=es_ES.UTF-8 LANGUAGE= LC_CTYPE="es_ES.UTF-8" LC_NUMERIC="es_ES.UTF-8" LC_TIME="es_ES.UTF-8" LC_COLLATE="es_ES.UTF-8" LC_MONETARY="es_ES.UTF-8" LC_MESSAGES="es_ES.UTF-8" LC_PAPER="es_ES.UTF-8" LC_NAME="es_ES.UTF-8" LC_ADDRESS="es_ES.UTF-8" LC_TELEPHONE="es_ES.UTF-8" LC_MEASUREMENT="es_ES.UTF-8" LC_IDENTIFICATION="es_ES.UTF-8" LC_ALL=
In a future, if I have free time, I'll try to reproduce this and get screenshots, logs, evidence, etc...
