Attached file disappear in agent mode

I just installed the latest release from October 16th, and things are better now. But it still seems a bit buggy at times.

I realize that there is a huge difference in how ask and agent mode is handling the "multiple" files.

If I attach x number of files in ask mode, and ask how many are attached. Copilot usually recognizes them.

If I do the same in agent mode in the same chat, it's like the general-instructions file takes precedence all the time.

Should I open a new ticket for this to be addressed?

@HHartvig One possible cause is that the file size might be too large so they are 'cut' to make sure the whole prompt does not exceed the token limit of the model. Could you please try either:

• Attach a single file with smaller size
• Or, change to another model, which has bigger token window, for example, Claude Sonnect 4 / GPT-5

I don't think it has anything to do with file size. The files I'm working on are KB's in size.

These are my findings so far.
Drag and drop into chat window. global-instructions takes precedence.

Using the add context button. First adding one file, then 3 more so 4 in total, still confused but better:

Using the right click action --> Copilot --> Add files to chat. Even more weird.

And if I open one of the files in the editor after drag and drop I get this. So very mixed results in my opinion.

The 5 files in total takes up 68 KB.

That's a good question. Because I don't know what is causing this.

I tried to add 5 files from a project that is under version control. But it only finds the global-instructions file. I have added the payload for reference.
