Student account limited to Copilot Free — how to get Copilot Pro for free as a verified student?

Hi, I'm a verified student and my GitHub account is already enrolled in the GitHub Student Developer Pack. However, I noticed that my Copilot usage is limited to the Free plan (2,000 code completions and 50 chat messages per month), even though it says that Copilot Pro is free for verified students on the pricing page.

I’m currently using VS Code, and I’ve also seen the message in my Copilot settings saying:

“You are using Copilot for free”.

Could someone please clarify:

Do verified students still get Copilot Pro for free?

If yes, how can I activate or upgrade to the Pro plan?

If the student plan only includes the Free tier now, is there a way to apply for full Pro access?

Hey bro, I hope you're okay. I see your problem is VS Code and the account linked to it. I would recommend you log out of VSCode so you can log in again and update your GitHub PRO license. You should have the Pro version, not the free one that gives you 50 messages per month. So if that doesn't work, I would recommend uninstalling, which is the most extreme option. It's very strange that if you have GitHub Students activated, you should have the Pro version. If all of the above fails, then you should contact GitHub support. They take a while to respond, but they'll surely help you with your problem. Good luck, bro

Once approved, you can claim your Copilot PRO offer on this signup link.

To redeem others benefits, go to the pack offers page, scroll down to the "All offers" section and select any offer that suits you.

In case you encounter a problem claiming any offer, I recommend you raise a ticket here, select "I am a verified student having trouble redeeming my Global Campus offers" and explain your issue.
