I don't get push notifications on my android phone. I have to go to the app, and then select notifications to see all my latest stuff. I definitely have all notifications turned on for the app.

Had the same issue on google pixel. Here’s what worked for me 👇

Go to android settings -> notifications -> fknd github → ensure “allow” is on

Inside the github app:
Tap profile -> settings -> notifications -> make sure “mobile push” is ON
Extra: log out -> force close → re-login (weirdly worked for me)

btw – github mobile push is limited. You only get pings for mentions, assigned PRs / issues, review requests

You won’t get every single repo event unless you subscribe and enable push for that SPECIFIC repo

LMK if you're still not seeing stuff after that, I can send you a test notification method from another account

I have no such option there on the web :D
however the android app has all notification rules enabled, can't receive anything.

Sorry to hear that you are experiencing problems with notifications on Android. As @yasir-ai mentioned, can you please check if Mobile push is on in your settings? Can you also share app settings on OS level?

That is correct! We are constantly improving this and hopefully add more and more push notifications for all activities in the future 🙇

can you explain what exactly notifications can we get on android? the issue for me is that i haven't seen any notification from github app, but im constantly getting these on email. on the other hand my colleague is getting everything on the iphone from the same PR.

what's more strange is that I have to manually pull for new notifications even if the app is open. I have enabled "allow to work in background" and "allow notifications". my phone is pixel 8 pro, i've also disabled deviceidle via adb.

You can configure your watch settings for a repository as described in our docs, but I believe the problem that you are describing sounds different. It feels like we were not able to register your device to our push notification system.

Can you please try uninstalling and reinstalling the app and let us know if the issue has been resolved? You should be prompted to configure the push notifications when you land in the notifications screen for the first time on Android 🙇

Somehow after a few reinstalls the notifications started to work, but compared to email they are very limited.. I'll try to use the watch option and will see if it's any better.

Not sure if it directly helped to resolve that issue but I'm using nextdns something like pi-hole or Adguard. I've seen in the logs that some firebase hosts were blocked, so I've added them to allowlist.

Side note - I think that when configuring the notifications, any error shouldn't fail silently, as that's hard to debug later.

well, on the web I have all email based notifications enabled, and in the android app all notifications enabled, but none arrived for the last month (just the billing emails for copilot....)
