VS Code attempts to use GitHub org or enterprise to access Copilot license but want to use personal account for free access #162180

Select Topic AreaQuestion Copilot Feature AreaVS Code BodyPreviously, I was a member of a Github organization which had provided Copilot license and associated with my Github account. I am no longer a member of that organization but I would still like to use Copilot. When I open VS Code it seems to attempt to still use the enterprise credentials and blocks use of Copilot entirely. I have seen other related posts:
I have tried the following:
After all that, I still get similar messages
Also, when I attempt to click "Start Using Copilot for Free" on the website https://github.com/settings/copilot/features it does not do anything. Questions

You're stuck because VS Code is still trying to use your old Copilot license from a company/org you're no longer part of. Even though you've signed out, there’s probably some leftover auth tokens messing things up.
Open the Command Palette in VS Code and run:
Then, manually delete the local Copilot state: On Linux/macOS:rm -rf ~/.config/Code/User/globalStorage/github.copilot |

I also facing the same issue and ask my org admin they says because org is paying copilot monthly, so you will need to wait until next month... |

Yea, I also opened a support ticket.
From the timing of your posts, I sounded like your ticket was completed within a day or very quickly.
My ticket has been open since last week with no response.
I did find some more information about viewing licensing that may help others.
You can go to
https://github.com/settings/billing/licensing
From there you can see more options to sign up for and enable Copilot
I was able to go through the form
But when I attempt to use in VSCode I get this strange warning
There is also the direct link to Copilot through Github web interface
