Hi @shirin44, I’m sorry to hear about your situation—it sounds very frustrating. While the Community cannot directly intervene in account restrictions, here’s what I can share based on similar cases:

Hi Ishant,
Thank you so much for your kind and thoughtful response. I truly appreciate you taking the time to share your experience and clarify what to expect during this process.
Just to confirm, I’ve already submitted a full appeal through the Airtable form and included all requested documents — including proof of residence, my student ID from RMIT Vietnam, and a verification selfie. My support ticket number is #3470306, submitted on June 10.
I completely understand that these cases take time. That said, if there’s anything else you recommend doing to help ensure my case is reviewed more quickly or accurately, I’d be very grateful for your advice.
Thanks again for your support and encouragement — it really means a lot.
Warm regards,
Shirin Shujaa

Hi @shirin44<https://github.com/shirin44>,
I’m sorry to hear about your situation—it sounds very frustrating. While the Community cannot directly intervene in account restrictions, here’s what I can share based on similar cases:
* Response times for support tickets can vary widely, often ranging from a few days to several weeks, especially if additional documentation is needed.
* Unfortunately, there’s no direct way for users to get status updates beyond the original ticket response.
* If you haven’t already, try checking your spam/junk email folders to ensure no replies were missed.
* You might also consider politely following up on your support ticket referencing your case number.
* As a point of reference, my own account was banned in the past and was recovered within 2 days after submitting the required documentation.
If you need to contact GitHub Support directly, you can do so here: https://support.github.com/contact
I hope GitHub support gets back to you soon so you can resume your work and contributions without further delay.

Hi Shirin, I understand how stressful this must be, especially when it impacts coursework and contributions. In similar cases, response times can vary, sometimes taking a few weeks. Meanwhile, organizing documentation carefully and maintaining clear communication is key. Planning other logistics, like travel for documentation, can be easier with services like Metro West Car Service. |

Hi everyone,
My GitHub account was restricted due to travel history (I opened GitHub while visiting Syria temporarily). I do not reside there and have submitted full documentation proving I live and study in Vietnam.
I submitted a support ticket with documents (proof of residence, student ID, etc.) over two weeks ago but have not received any response or acknowledgment.
I understand the Community cannot reverse bans, but I’m asking:
Has anyone else been in a similar situation?
How long did it take to receive a reply?
Is there any way to get a status update on my case?
This is affecting my coursework and open-source contributions.
Thank you for any help or advice!
— Shirin
