Discount request errors

Hi everyone,

I am trying to apply for the GitHub Student Developer Pack on my new GitHub account, but I receive this error:

"(my academic address) has already been used to obtain an academic discount on GitHub account(s) Eddsal07."

I no longer have access to the previous account Eddsal07, and I have unlinked this email from that account. I would like to use my academic email with my new GitHub account.

Could you please give some advices on how I can resolve this problem

So GitHub’s education verification system has a kind of one-email-one-universe rule.
Once an academic email is used for a Student Developer Pack or academic discount, it’s tied to that specific GitHub account in their database, even if you unlink the email later.

Why this happens:
Unlinking the academic email from your old account doesn’t remove the verification history. GitHub keeps the record to prevent duplicate benefits, which is why you’re still getting the error referencing Eddsal07.

How to fix it :

1. Contact GitHub Education Support - Go to:
   🔗 Submit a support ticket
   Explain that you no longer have access to the Eddsal07 account and you want your academic email released for use with your new account.
2. Provide proof of ownership and remember to Include:
   • Your academic email address
   • Your new GitHub username
   • A short note confirming you’ve lost access to the old account
3. Wait for the transfer - So the Education team will manually unlink your email from the old account and attach it to your new one.
   I think this can take a few days, depending on their queue.

While waiting, make sure your new GitHub profile is set up with your academic email as the primary address, so once they free it, the verification can go through instantly. You’re stuck in an email time paradox right now. Only GitHub Education Support has the keys to realign your academic credentials with your new account. Just do those things and wait.
