Required reviewers for environments option not avaiable for my org which is a team account

I have purchased Team plan for the organizations. I have few private repositories that need to use Required reviewers for environments option. When i change the repo to public option is visible not sure why it is not available for private repo even though i have purchased the Team plan.

The behavior you’re seeing is expected based on GitHub’s plan features.

• The “Required reviewers for environments” option is part of Environments → Deployment protection rules.
• According to GitHub’s plan comparison, this specific protection rule is only available for GitHub Enterprise (not Team) when applied to private repositories.
• On public repositories, it shows up for free because public repos include advanced CI/CD protections by default (GitHub has made a number of security features free on public repos).

So that’s why:

• Public repo → you see it (available for everyone).
• Private repo under Team plan → not available (requires Enterprise).

What you can do

1. If you need this for private repos → you’d need to upgrade your organization to the Enterprise Cloud plan.
2. If public repos are fine → the option will remain available at no extra cost.
3. For private repos on Team, you can still use branch protection rules or manual approval workflows in Actions, but the built-in “required reviewers for environments” control won’t appear.
