Unable to reapply for Student Developers Pack #171019
-
Select Topic AreaQuestion BodyI recently started an student application to avail GitHub Student Developers Pack under Education Benefits in Billing and licensing tab. Everything went good but I was denied as I had not filled my Billing Details. The exact reason was as follows : Please complete your GitHub billing information with your full name exactly as it appears in your academic affiliation document. You do not have to add a payment method. You may need to log out and log back in to GitHub before reapplying. If you have only a single legal name, enter it in both the first and last name fields. After this I filled my billing details but I am unable to reapply. It says that I may need to log out and log back in to GitHub before reapplying. I signed out and then signed back in but still I am unable to reapply. Kindly help. |

Now, the issue is that the reapply button doesn’t show up right away, maybe GitHub caches your application state. I had a similar issue when I applied for mine, but it was a slightly different problem. Here is what I would do to try to fix this problem:

This usually happens when the system hasn’t refreshed your updated billing information. Please try the following steps: Update your billing info again:
Clear browser cache and cookies, then log out and log back in to GitHub. Reapply from here: https://education.github.com/benefits If it still doesn’t work, open a support ticket here: https://support.github.com/contact → choose GitHub Education → Student Developer Pack. This usually resolves the issue quickly once your account details are properly synced. |

When GitHub Student Developer Pack reapplication says to log out/in, it usually means their system hasn’t refreshed your billing info yet. Here’s what you can do: Double-check billing info: Make sure your full name exactly matches your academic ID in both first and last name fields. If you have a single legal name, put it in both fields. Clear browser cache or try incognito: Sometimes old session data prevents the update from reflecting. Wait a few hours: GitHub sometimes takes time to refresh changes on their backend. Reapply: After confirming billing info, try reapplying. Contact GitHub Education Support if it still doesn’t work—they can manually reset your application status |

Check the image file itself Try a different setup Try finishing the application on your phone using cellular data sometimes it helps. Also, you can open your browser's developer tools (usually by pressing F12). Click on the "Network" tab right before you hit "Submit." You might see a specific error pop up (like a 400 or 500 code) that will give you a better clue about what's going wrong. |

To resolve the issue of being unable to reapply for the GitHub Student Developer Pack after updating your billing details, follow these simple, step-by-step instructions. Step 1: Verify Billing Information Go to your GitHub account settings: https://github.com/settings/billing If you have a single legal name, enter it in both the "First name" and "Last name" fields. Confirm that no payment method is required for the Student Developer Pack application. Step 2: Log Out and Clear Browser Cache Log out of your GitHub account completely: https://github.com/logout In Chrome: Go to Settings > Privacy and security > Clear browsing data > Select "Cookies and other site data" and "Cached images and files" > Clear data. Log back into GitHub with the same account used for the application. Step 3: Reapply for the Student Developer Pack Navigate to the GitHub Education benefits page: https://education.github.com/benefits Acceptable documents include a student ID, current transcript, class schedule, or an enrollment verification letter. Submit the application. Step 4: Wait and Check Application Status GitHub may take 24–48 hours to process changes due to system caching. If the reapply option is still unavailable, wait 1–2 days and try again. Step 5: Contact GitHub Support if the Issue Persists If you still cannot reapply after 48 hours, open a support ticket with GitHub Education: Go to: https://support.github.com/contact Step 6: Verify Application Success Once your application is submitted, GitHub typically processes it within a few days (up to 72 hours, or longer during busy periods like semester starts). Additional Tips Use the Same Account: Ensure you’re signed in with the same GitHub account used to update billing details and apply initially. |

Hi @jitesh2511, I faced a similar issue with the Student Developer Pack. My application was denied because my billing information was incomplete. I updated my billing info to match my academic documents and logged out/in, cleared cache, and even tried a different browser — but the “Reapply” button still didn’t appear. Did you manage to reapply successfully? If yes, could you share what worked for you? Otherwise, I’m thinking of contacting GitHub Education support to manually reset my application. Thanks! |
