Hey Ilias, this usually happens because when you fork a private repository it stays linked to the original one for access control. If that parent repository or organization is deleted GitHub automatically removes all its forks too including any in your personal account for security reasons. Since forks of private repositories can’t be restored from your side, the best option is to contact GitHub Support and explain that your private fork was deleted after the parent organization was removed (include the repo name, owner, and deletion time). They can check if a backup copy exists and possibly restore it for you. For future cases, it’s safer to make a full clone and push it as a new standalone repo before deleting the original. |
