Claude Opus 4.5 promotion availability for other clients #181057

Select Topic AreaQuestion Copilot Feature AreaCopilot Agent Mode BodyOpus 4.5 became available in public preview on November 24, with an awesome promotional discount on the premium requests multiplier until December 5th: https://github.blog/changelog/2025-11-24-claude-opus-4-5-is-in-public-preview-for-github-copilot/ Up until now, Opus 4.5 is not available yet for clients different than Web / VS Code: https://docs.github.com/en/copilot/reference/ai-models/supported-models#supported-ai-models-per-client Although understanding the gradual rollout implications, as a JetBrains IDE user I'd like to get access to that promotional offer as well. Especially Opus' advanced tools is something I'm eager to experiment with. Anything planned? |

Here’s what’s currently documented: Auto model selection is available in JetBrains IDEs and is in public preview. It automatically chooses among available models optimized for availability, but it excludes models with premium request multipliers greater than one. If you use auto model selection on a paid Copilot plan, qualifying models receive a 10% multiplier discount. See About Copilot auto model selection: About Copilot auto model selection. Copilot features, including Agent mode and Copilot Edits, are supported in JetBrains IDEs. Agent mode is best for complex, multi-step tasks and integrations. See GitHub Copilot features: GitHub Copilot features. Regarding Opus 4.5 specifically: The “Supported AI models per client” matrix is the authoritative source for which models are available in each client (Web, VS Code, JetBrains, etc.). If Opus 4.5 isn’t listed for JetBrains yet, it won’t be available there until that page reflects support. Please check the matrix for the latest status: Supported AI models in GitHub Copilot. |

Hey there! I totally feel your pain on this one. As a fellow JetBrains user, I've been refreshing that docs page hoping to see it pop up before the promo ends. The situation: Right now, Opus 4.5 is only available in VS Code and the web interface during this preview period. GitHub's rolling it out gradually across different clients, which makes sense from a stability perspective, but yeah... the timing with the promotional pricing ending December 5th is rough for those of us on other IDEs. What you can do: Reach out to GitHub support - Let them know you're interested. The more people who ask, the more likely they'll prioritize it or potentially extend the promo for other clients when they do roll out. Use VS Code temporarily - I know it's not ideal if you're deep in the JetBrains ecosystem, but if you really want to test out those advanced tools during the promo period, you could spin up VS Code just for experimentation. Not a perfect solution, but it's something. Keep an eye on the changelog - GitHub's been pretty good about announcing updates there. Set up notifications if you can. My two cents: I'd bet they're working on it, but enterprise rollouts take time - especially with something as complex as a new model with advanced tooling. The promo ending before JetBrains support is available does seem like an oversight though. Maybe they'll extend it or offer something similar when it does launch for other clients? In the meantime, definitely make your voice heard. GitHub's usually pretty responsive to community feedback. Good luck, and hopefully we'll see it in our IDEs soon! |
