Create new issues directly from projects list, not "draft" issues #30471

When I'm viewing my project's issue board/table, I almost always want to create a new issue from this view, not a "draft" issue. What I have to do right now, is:
What I would LIKE to do is:
Linear.app is a project/issue management tool that does this very well. Suggesting taking a look at them for some good ideas. I have created several dozen issues over the last few months for my projects, and every single one of them went through this process; not a single one of them was a "draft" issue. I'm sure there's a use for the draft issue, but I haven't found it for my team, but I can't imagine that most teams are creating a large number of draft issues that go through some process before they assign and label the task on a project? Also, it would be nice to have a default project or assignee option as a setting, because 99% of the time I'm in the context of a single project/repo, and it is frustrating to have to assign every new issue to the project I'm currently working in. Overall I'm happy with the GH issues and improvements over the last few months! I'm just trying to make it better so I can continue to enjoy it :) |

I also don't understand the use of draft issues and would like to create "real" issues directly. I could imagine that a viable solution would be to create some issue templates and when creating an issue in a project, one of those template issues can be selected. So the workflow would be to type in the title, select the template (via the plus symbol to the left of the title input field for example) and hitting enter. And in the template you could set the default assignee(s), label(s), ... |

I agree with this. Not having the option to create an issue directly is the last major blocker for us to move to github projects fulltime! |

@dlegr250 The drafts 'feature' can be a hand concept for the following scenarios.

@rileybroughten That's awesome! I just tested it out, it does exactly what I wanted. I hope this doesn't sound nit-picky, but I do have a few feature requests to build upon this. I use Github issues a lot, so want a few minor improvements:
Definitely a great improvement, looking forward to new features in Github issues! |

Would there be any way to make this the default behaviour, perhaps in project board settings? Such that we can just type and press Enter like it's done for drafts? |

Is there an ability to create an item and have it as a non-draft, for example we have designers on our team and we're using Github projects, but their project isn't linked to any issue on a repository... |

Nobody asked for this Draft issues. I create using "+" in omnibar as suggested and Draft is created. Have to change to issue every time and on top of everything add to project every time, while Iam already in the project creating the issue. What is this, project management for bureaucrats? |
