VSCode Copilot not working, asking to upgrade package version even on latest version

Hi team, I am facing this error while setting up Github Copilot on my Mac. I am already on the latest version of the extension but it still shows this error. I have tried to sign out of Github from my default browser, that did not work. I have also tried to remove the extension from ~/Library/Application Support/Code/CachedExtensionVSIXs/github.copilot* and ~/.vscode/extensions on my Mac and reinstall but still the same error.

Error message while clicking on the Copilot icon at the bottom:
Your editor's Copilot extension, version "copilot/1.17.5850", is out of date. Please install a newer version to access this service.

It worked smoothly on Windows in one go. i guess that was because I had logged into github already on my default browser. While setting it up for the first time on MAc I had not logged into github. But later I tried to log out from Github on my default browser on mac and then again reinstalled the extension, but in vain.
