I am a verified teacher with free access to Copilot.

I keep getting the error rate limit exceeded for plan FREE_FACULTY today. It was working fine yesterday. Is there a solution to this? Thanks.

Its my mistake
If you put the word "Teacher" in the title, it may be easier for the viewer to distinguish between them.

It doesn't even matter if Teacher is or isn't written in the title, it's a totally different issue. Rate limited != Not working

Same issue, also for students. I've programmed for three days straight now and it still works, but it doesn't work as smoothly as before. I have to sometimes redo comments over and over before copilot works.

Does anyone know if there is a rate limit?

Getting the rate limit exceeded for plan FREE_FACULTY error as well. IMO this limit should be raised for faculty, it happens after pressing ctrl+enter just a couple of times.

I think this might be a bug. I got this error after a few minutes of coding and then after a few minutes it started working again

Looks like the rate limit is reduced on server side but now it makes the service unusable, you can not get consecutive recommendations...

Getting the same thing. My plan is FREE_ENGAGED_OSS. Started happening yesterday. Makes the thing pretty useless if it only works 1/10 times.

I was actually going to buy it until I noticed I had free access, but now I can't buy it because there's no button to buy it if you have free access.

But as far as I can tell this rate limit only affects the free plans, so just because I'm a maintainer for a popular open source repo I basically have a worse experience with no option to upgrade? wtf?

Github is the opposite of transparent regarding Copilot so I'm guessing they silently changed it to give preference to people who bought it or something.

Same here, this makes the product utility drop by 90%; need to wait 4-5 seconds before triggering the next autocomplete, which is approximately the time it takes for me to think of a solution a lot of the time. So effectively cannot be used to reduce cognitive overload on simple tasks, which is where most of the value of Copilot comes from, since for anything relatively complex or involved I cannot get a zero-shot correct completion and have to end up designing the high level pattern myself and reducing it to the kinds of tasks I mentioned above.

What helps for me is pressing backspace and space again after a couple of times it will autocorrect for some lines again. Not amazing but hey its something
