Is secret scanning push protection available for public repos? #53368
-
Select Topic AreaQuestion BodyIf I understand correctly, according to the billing plans, secret scanning push protection should be available for public repositories for free: However, there's no option to enable push protection either at the organization or (public) repo level: I'm looking for a setting like this (copied from https://docs.github.com/en/enterprise-cloud@latest/code-security/secret-scanning/protecting-pushes-with-secret-scanning#enabling-secret-scanning-as-a-push-protection): Is secret scanning push protection restricted to Enterprise plans with GitHub Advanced Security enabled? This would be a real shame, as public repositories would benefit the most from proactively avoiding the leakage of secrets. I've also tried using the API to enable the setting. The calls return successfully, but the actual setting remains disabled. |

I've heard from a member of the sales team: "Push protection for public repos is coming soon, and it’s planned to be available in May." |
