Userscript button is unresponsive

I downloaded the userscript app. Then opened and closed it. And then things went downhill. When I go to click on the userscript button on safari. It just closes the manage extensions thingy. Like the button doesn’t do anything.i don’t know what to do.

Okay, this is new. Could you provide some background information? For example, what Extension version and iOS version are you using? Is this your first time using this extension? Or did the problem occur after upgrading your iOS? Anything you think could be helpful or supplementary is appreciated.

So i have used userscript before on my iphone 12 just yesterday i got a new phone the 17. I transferred all my data to the new phone but the userscripts app wasnt working. The new phone is running on ios 26.2. I believe the extension version it is running on now is v1.8.4.

Considering that you have performed the data transfer. My advice would be to try uninstalling the extension, restarting the system, and then reinstalling the extension to see if that fixes the issue.

To be honest, this is weird, even if the extension popup page has a bug, there should be a popup/window there. It sounds like a bug in Safari itself.

Unless you have a macOS device that can connect and debug, I can't think of any other way to check at the moment.

Of course, you could always try to install the beta version and collect logs, but if the issue is outside of the extension, you may not be able to collect valid logs this way.

I do have a mac os device so ill try and debug and see if it changes.

Ok so i may be lost on how to debug the userscript perhaps there is a way to dumb it down for me

If it were me, I would first try to check if the popup page is loaded and if there are errors.

1. Connect iOS and macOS devices.
2. Open macOS Safari and turn on developer features in settings.
3. Your iOS device should appear in the macOS Safari menu "Develop", along with the current tabs
4. Click the extension button in iOS Safari
5. See if the "Userscripts Popup" page appears in the macOS Safari menu
6. If there is, click and check whether there are errors in the opened console and the size of the body.
7. If there is no "Userscripts Popup" page there, it means the probably with iOS Safari itself. Try looking for the error message in macOS Console.app.
8. If you find anything interesting, or maybe record the process as a video, it might help.

So i dont know what im doing wrong that my device isnt showing up on the mac’s safari menu along with current tabs. The device was connected as it was shown on finder and i did turn on the developer settings but idk what happened that i couldnt see the current tabs.

Sorry, I forgot you also need to turn on a switch in the iOS settings.

iOS settings -> Safari -> Adcanced -> Web Inspector
