Spent way too long thinking about this today. We actively engage with music through listening but movies also have sound — yet we never say 'listen to a movie'. Maybe it's about the dominant sense the medium demands? Or maybe language just locked in before anyone thought too hard about it. Either way, now I can't unhear it.
