@MunifTanjim I have the same issues when I'm inside a buffer that's not listed. It would be nice to get this working like copilot.vim does. Having suggestions in unlisted buffers can be really powerful, imo. For example, having copilot suggestions for creating commit messages in Neogit is quite convenient.

Just simply delete these lines and it can work. I'm not sure if this code is reasonable.
@zbirenbaum sorry for disturbing, can we consider to expose these assertions as some config to let user decide what to do? Because I see the official copilot.vim work in nobuflisted buffer. I'm happy to make a PR.

There are a couple of opened issues related to this, @zbirenbaum do you remember the reason behind this?
I am tempted to remove it and address any issue if they come up.
